On 17 December 2025, dapaanz finalised the details on a new member category to support new graduates into our workforce: Provisional Practitioner (Graduate).
This new category aligns with other allied health professions and is designed to support graduates with dapaanz recognised, applied qualifications during the period where they are seeking employment in a clinical role on their pathway to full registration.
Who can be a Provisional Practitioner (Graduate) and what are the next steps towards registration?
Once a student has graduated with a dapaanz recognised and applied qualification, they can contact our registrar to check their eligibility for Provisional Practitioner (Graduate) registration.
This interim registration is the first step towards fully registered Addiction Practitioner registration.
Once working in a clinical role within an addiction service and supervised by a dapaanz-accredited Clinical Supervisor, graduates should then immediately apply for the next stage of provisional registration, which is held for a minimum of 12 months (and no more than 36 months). Provisional Registration is the next step towards meeting requirements for Full Registration.
Fees
The fee for this member category is: $300 per membership year.
