Registered Alcohol and Drug Practitioner and/or Gambling Practitioner ($625)

Practitioners with the required level of qualifications and experience to practice independently.

Provisional Practitioner ($625)

All practitioners working towards full registration must be provisional for a minimum of 12 months (up to 36 months).

Provisional Practitioner (Graduate) ($300)

Graduates with a dapaanz-recognised, applied qualification can apply for provisional registration (Graduate), while they are seeking employment. Upon employment in a clinical role and with supervision by a dapaanz-accredited clinical supervisor, they must upgrade to provisional practitioner registration and begin working towards full registration.

Endorsed Associate Practitioner ($625)

Practitioners with diploma level qualifications (this category is no longer open to application).

Accredited Addiction Peer Support Worker ($360)

A relevant level 4 qualification is preferred, however other formal or informal training (of at least 40 hours) will be considered on a case-by-case basis. You need to be under the supervision of a dapaanz accredited peer supervisor, or where none is available, an accredited clinical supervisor.

Endorsed Support Worker ($360)

A relevant level 4 qualification is recommended but not required. You need to be under the supervision of a dapaanz accredited clinical supervisor.

Non-practicing AOD/PG Practitioner (non-APC) ($135)

If you are no longer in a clinical role, you might consider changing your registration to a non-practicing practitioner.

Accredited Clinical Supervisor (+ $110 – if dapaanz registered practitioner; $245 – if registered elsewhere, includes $135 standard membership)

Qualified and experienced addiction clinical supervisors.

Accredited Peer Supervisor (+ $110 – if dapaanz member, +$245 if not an existing dapaanz member, includes $135 standard membership)

Qualified and experienced addiction peer supervisors.

Standard ($135)

Open to anybody with an interest in addiction treatment.

Student Standard ($60)

Discounted for full-time students to support the development and growth of the workforce.

Kaumātua

Dapaanz also provides recognition for kaumātua who have contributed significantly to the addiction treatment sector.

Member Benefits

Dapaanz Registered Practitioners are designated as health professionals under the Substance Addiction (Compulsory Assessment and Treatment) Act (2017) and can be considered for the roles outlined in this Act.

Being a dapaanz Registered Practitioner is considered equivalent to other professional registrations gazetted in legislation, namely professions registered under the Health Practitioner Competency Assurance Act (2003) and Social Workers Registration Act (2003).

Health Professionals Indemnity Insurance

Dapaanz members who are qualified health professionals are eligible for Aon New Zealand’s Health Professionals (Professional Indemnity/Medical Malpractice) Insurance Plan. The insurer for this scheme is Vero Liability Ltd, which has an AA strong Standard Poor’s financial strength rating.
