Dapaanz has been representing the professional interests of addiction practitioners and others working in addiction in Aotearoa since 2002.
We support and foster an excellent, ethical and culturally responsive workforce so people affected by addiction get high quality, effective help.
We ensure this by:
- Setting the standards for addiction practice in Aotearoa through the Addiction Intervention Competency Framework and Tikanga Matatika – dapaanz Code of Ethics.
- Managing endorsement, registration and continuing professional development for support workers, practitioners and supervisors working in addictions roles.
We are committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and to ensuring rangatiratanga is at the heart of the operation and delivery of our work. We are proud that just over one quarter of our membership is Māori.
In partnership with Māori, and guided by Te Kowhao (our Te Tiriti policy), we actively protect the interests of tāngata whenua and support our workforce to enhance Māori wellbeing.
We advocate for our members nationally, and with Government, to ensure their work can have the greatest impact.
